Since the advent of optical fiber,optical fiber communication has become an important part of the field of optical communication,which has a wide range of applications in daily life,military and other fields,has become the mainstream of modern information transmission.Transmission materials and installation processes are increasingly guaranteed in communication engineering under the premise of perfection,it is an inevitable development towards higher quality and higher performance.With the rapid development of science and technology,the volume of devices in production and life is getting smaller and smaller,indicating that the miniaturization and multifunction of optoelectronic devices is an inevitable development trend.For the optical passive device of fiber laser,miniaturizing it has great strategic significance in the military.As a special optical fiber,the polarization maintaining fiber can maintain the polarization state of the signal light during transmission.It has received wide attention since its inception.In the military field,it is one of the important components of fiber laser weapons.Is a key component of high-precision sensors.Therefore,it is an urgent problem to improve the fiber laser and improve its performance.This article will conduct research on the types,measurements,and applications of optical passive devices in polarizationmaintaining fibers.The main contents are as follows:(1)Introduce the development,principles,types and production methods of optical fibers and special optical fibers;(2)Introduce the principles of components in fiber lasers,such as fiber couplers,fiber isolators,fiber wavelength division multiplexers;(3)Explain the working principle and structure of the multifunctional passive device,and the experimental steps of making the multifunctional passive device.This device can effectively reduce the number of devices in the fiber laser,and achieve the miniaturization and multifunction of the fiber laser;(4)Finally,apply it to the fiber laser to verify its reliability and superiority.
