Intention to use contraception is an essential indicator of the potential demand for family planning services since it allows women to avoid unplanned or unwanted preg-nancies and unsafe abortions.Contraceptive use alone can reduce maternal mortality despite these benefits;the experience of using contraceptives in developing countries such as Ethiopia was not enough.Data from the Ethiopia demographic and health sur-veys conducted in 2016 was used to assess the inference factors affecting Ethiopian women's intention on future use of contraception in their reproductive age.The pre-dictive performance of Lasso penalized logistic regression, and its extension Adaptive Lasso and Group Lasso penalized logistic regression were compared by ten-fold Cross-Validation in identifying some inference factors affecting their intention on future use of contraception. The findings from Group Lasso penalized logistic regression showed that the predictors: women age, current marital status, wealth status, religion, number of desired children, heard about family planning, types of modern contraceptive methods used, attending pregnancy and postnatal care service, visiting health care service reg-ularly,and access to any media were significant inference factors affecting Ethiopian women's intention on future use of contraception.Providing the pregnancy and post-natal care service in the community and creating awareness on family planning could contribute to increase the rate of contraceptive use among Ethiopian women.
