Danxia caves are common associated micro landforms in Danxia landforms,which are developed in different degrees in various Danxia landforms.Kongtong mountain is located in the typical Danxia landform area in Northwest China,which is rich in cave resources.Based on field investigation,combined with Arc GIS,field and indoor experiments,this paper systematically investigated Danxia caves,summarized the spatial distribution pattern,morphological characteristics and classification of caves,and analyzed the causes from the aspects of rock properties,geological structure,topography,climate and hydrology,and evaluated the tourism value of typical Danxia caves.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The distribution law of Danxia cave is investigated: the cave plane distribution is in sheet pattern;the altitude distribution is mainly concentrated in the range of 1650 ? 1850m;the orientation of the cave entrance is mainly West and southwest;the slope is mainly 15 ? 60 degrees;the slope direction is mainly South and southwest;there are more caves in near surface water system.(2)According to the different sizes of caves,they can be divided into single caves(large and small),cave groups and rock troughs;according to the different shapes of openings,single caves can be divided into frontal cave,flat cave,square cave,round cave,eye cave,through cave,Tianshengqiao cave,Zui cave and herringbone cave;cave groups can be divided into Beaded cave,nested cave and honeycomb cave;rock troughs can be divided into bedding groove and inclined cave It is suggested that the horizontal development of caves is the most obvious,and the caves mainly expand along the bedding plane.(3)The formation conditions of caves are analyzed: the caves are mainly developed in the conglomerate of the Cretaceous Sanqiao formation,the uneven strength of conglomerate and the weathering of calcareous and iron minerals provide favorable conditions for the development of caves;the joint fissures produced by tectonic movement provide a good foundation for the development of caves,and the development direction of caves in the study area is roughly the same as the dominant trend of linear structure,In the area of near linear structure,there are more caves;tectonic activity,topography,climate and hydrological conditions jointly affect the development position of caves;the staggered combination of different layers and joints determines the initial shape of cave development,and the differential weathering caused by the heterogeneity of conglomerate composition and structure further transforms the cave shape.(4)From four aspects of natural attributes,landscape characteristics,landscape value and development conditions,this paper selects relevant factors to establish the tourism value evaluation system of Danxia cave in Kongtong mountain,and evaluates 31 selected typical caves,including 1world-class cave,12 national caves and 18 provincial caves.According to the different degree of cave development,corresponding suggestions are put forward.
