With the continuous development of science and technology,scientific collaboration is increasingly becoming the mainstream way of scientific research,and the interdisciplinary scientific collaboration is also constantly increasing.In order to achieve complementary advantages,scientific collaboration is the inevitably trend and choice of modern scientific research.Surgical robot overcomes the shortcomings of traditional surgical techniques with its new concept and technical advantages,resulting in revolutionary changes in surgical mode.Nowadays,it has been increasingly applied to various surgical fields and achieved effective result.As a new interdisciplinary field,those key issues of surgical robot involve many cutting-edge technologies in different research fields,and multi-level and all-round scientific research collaborations are urgently needed.Scientific collaboration is of vital importance to the development of surgical robot technology.Co-authored papers,an important form of scientific collaboration,can be used to analyze the global scientific collaboration in the field of surgical robot.Based on the bibliometric analysis of global papers in the field of surgical robot,this paper revealed the development trend and the general situation of global scientific collaboration.Cooperation network analysis of institution was made with the social network analytic approach.And the influences of scientific collaboration on academic ability and level of research subjects were evaluated in terms of institution and country/region.The results showed that in the past 20 years,surgical robot has become a global research hotspot under increasing concern and attention from associated countries/regions.Extensive and in-depth collaboration has promoted the development and advancement of surgical robot.The scientific collaboration has become increasingly important in the field of surgical robot from 1999 to 2018.The collaboration rates reached up to 98% and 73% in 2018 at the level of author and institution respectively,which were apparently higher than other fields.It was found that collaboration rate and collaboration revel are unsuitable for examining international collaboration at a macro level.Whereas,the number of papers,total citations,and the number of country/region of international collaborations can better reflect the collaboration state of a country/region.As a prominent representative of North America,the United States also has an absolute advantage in the world and occupies a leading position in the institutional cooperation network.Among the 22 core institutions identified by k-core analysis,20 institutions are from the United States.Although the overall performance of Europe is not as good as that of North America,Germany,Italy,France,England and Belgium all have excellent performances in international collaboration.King's College London is also one of the core institution in k-core analysis of institutional cooperation network.Compared to North America and Europe,Asia has a relatively low starting point but which could not be underestimated in the future.Chinese Mainland,South Korea and Japan in international collaborations are also remarkable in recent years.
