Objective: By obtaining relevant data in the GEPIA and TCGA databases, the expression of spermine oxidase(SMOX)gene in liver cancer and its clinical significance were studied. Methods: This article collected SMOX mRNA expression data and clinical data of liver cancer patients based on the TCGA and GEPIA databases, and used R software version4.0.3 to perform a series of analyses on the obtained data.T-test analyzes the difference of SMOX mRNA expression in liver cancer tissues and paracancerous tissues,one-way ANOVA analysis of variance compares SMOX gene expression differences in different clinical stages, and Kaplan-meier method is used to analyze the survival of liver cancer patients.COX univariate and multivariate analysis of SMOX mRNA expression and other clinical features and their impact on the survival and prognosis of patients with liver cancer.Result: This study extracted 371 cases of liver cancer patients and their corresponding clinical data of 50 cases of paracancerous tissues and SMOX mRNA expression data from the TCGA database website.it was significantly higher for the expression of SMOX mRNA in liver cancer tissues than that in paracancerous tissues. The expression of SMOX gene in different clinical stages of liver cancer was significantly different(P<0.05).The expression of SMOX gene in stage I patients was the lowest, while that in stage ? patients was the highest. The expression of SMOX mRNA was significantly correlated with the T stage and TNM stage of liver cancer(P <0.05).This study has found that the expression of SMOX mRNA is closely related to the overall survival of liver cancer(P <0.05).The overall survival time of SMOX mRNA low expression group was significantly higher than that of SMOX mRNA high expression group.COX multivariate analysis suggests that SMOX mRNA expression status is one of the prognostic indicators. Conclusion: SMOX mRNA is highly expressed in liver cancer tissues.Highly expressed SMOX mRNA is related to the poor survival of liver cancer patients.SMOX may become a new molecular target for the diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer.
