The Influence Of Green Technology Innovation On Total Factor Productivity

The rapid growth of China's urban economy has brought many challenges in terms of resources and environment.Technological innovation is the source of economic growth,but it is a double-edged sword for green economic growth.Some technologies are benefit oriented rather than green oriented,and then pollute the environment.At present,many researches have focused on green technology innovation,but have not been discussed in detail.Therefore,in this paper,109 key environmental protection cities in China from 2011 to 2017 are selected as the objects,and green technology innovation is divided into three categories: solar energy,water energy and biomass energy.Data envelopment analysis(DEA)is used to calculate green total factor productivity,and then the spatial econometric model is used to study how three types of green technological innovation affect green total factor productivity.The empirical research is mainly divided into three aspects: The internal influence mechanism and external driving factors of green technological innovation on green total factor productivity,as well as a comparative study on the horizontal location heterogeneity of the Eastern,the Central and the Western cities.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The internal influence mechanism of green technology innovation on urban green total factor productivity is complex.Green technological innovation has spatial spillover effect,that is,it can affect the total factor productivity of local cities by influencing adjacent cities;different types of green technological innovation have different nonlinear relations with the total factor productivity of local cities.We should carry out targeted innovation activities according to different stages of different technological innovation fields.(2)The external driving force is an important factor that green technology innovation affects the total factor productivity of cities.We should pay attention to the role played by the driving factors such as foreign direct investment and environmental regulation.(3)Due to the differences between different locations,green technology innovation plays different roles in urban GTFP.We should develop green technology according to local conditions,strengthen regional cooperation and promote the overall green total factor productivity.
