Clavaria Vaill.ex L is an important group of clavarioid fungi. This genus is characterized by its simple clavarioid(rarely branched)basidiomata and the absence of clamps in contextual hyphae. It is a widespread genus that is found in temperate and tropical zones. In 2008,28 species were recognized in this genus. In China, the taxonomy and molecular systematics of Clavaria are not sufficient, only 10 species have been recorded before. Therefore, based on the Clavaria materials collected from different regions of China, the taxonomy and phylogeneyc of Clavaria in China were studied. The specimens used in this study were collected from different regions of China.Based on the morphological and molecular biological studies of 52 specimens of Clavaria,18 species of Clavaria in China were identified.A key to the genus Clavaria in China was compiled.Detailed descriptions of macro morphology and micro characteristics, photos of field habitats and micro structural lines were provided for each taxon.7 new species published and to be published: C.aspersa P.Zhang &Zuo H.Chen,C.griseoalba P.Zhang & Zuo H.Chen,C.griseolilacina P.Zhang,C.hupingshanensis P.Zhang,C.jiulongjiangensis P.Zhang,C.nigripes P.Zhang and C.sinensis P.Zhang;4 new record species in China: C.amoenoides,C.falcata,C.aff.incarnata and C.aff.plumbeoargillacea.Phylogenetic tree was constructed based on ITS,nr LSU,EF1 and RPB2 sequences.Single gene analysis and multi gene joint analysis were carried out by using Bayesian analysis and maximum likelihood analysis. The results showed that Clavaria species in China could be roughly divided into four groups, namely /acuta clade,/Clavaria sensu stricto,/fumosa clade, and /incarnata clade.Besides,a phylogenetic hypothesis was further proposed.
