Nowadays,environmental protection has become the trend of the development of furniture industry,the generation and development of corrugated cardboard furniture is in line with this trend.However,the structural design of corrugated cardboard furniture is still lack of in-depth stress analysis and scientific calculation.In this study,from the perspective of sustainable development,corrugated cardboard is used in furniture design,and the finite element analysis and structural optimization design of corrugated cardboard furniture are carried out to preliminarily explore the feasibility of applying finite element analysis method to study the strength performance of corrugated cardboard furniture.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The equivalent analysis of corrugated cardboard is carried out by using the equivalent theory.The equivalent plate model is established based on the mechanical test data,and the buckling analysis of the equivalent plate is verified.The buckling load of the equivalent plate is 785 N,which is compared with the failure load of 761 N measured by the edge compression strength test of corrugated cardboard.The relative error is 3.17%.(2)Using Solid Works simulation finite element software,the static load analysis and stability analysis of corrugated cardboard stool seat surface are carried out.The results show that when a vertical downward force of 750 Nis applied to the seat surface,the maximum stress of the corrugated cardboard stool is about 0.4 MPa at the joint of the seat panel and the side panel,and the maximum deformation is about 3.1mm at the middle of the folded side of the seat panel.But both the maximum stress and the maximum deformation are within the tolerable range of the corrugated cardboard.Through the inspection of safety factor,the minimum factor of safety is 2.9,which meets the requirement of strength safety factor.In the stability analysis of the main direction,the deformation in the left and right direction is obviously greater than that in the front and back direction,but the safety factors are 2.0 and 4.7 respectively,which are within the safety range,so the strength of the corrugated cardboard stool is enough for preschool children.(3)After 18 iterations,the optimal solution combination is obtained: length a is 168mm,width b is30mm.The optimized paper bench can save about 8.24 % of material compared with that before optimization.According to the optimized results,the test results show that the failure load of the corrugated stool is 2720 N.At the same time,the deformation under 400 N and 750 N load was measured,and no obvious deformation and damage was found,indicating that the corrugated stool can withstand the weight of 3-6 years old children.There is no obvious damage in the drop test,and the test is qualified.
