1,4-Butanediol is a raw material for the production of tetrahydrofuran, polybutylene terephthalate,?-butyrolactone and polyurethane. Its derivatives are widely used in plastics, fibers, rubber and elastomers, daily cosmetics, pharmaceutical and biochemical industries. In the production of 1,4-butanediol based on the Reppe method, the by-product propargyl alcohol has a high added value. Therefore, accurate and reliable vapor-liquid equilibrium data of the 1,4-butanediol-propargyl alcohol-water system and the establishment of a reliable thermodynamic model of the system are the basis for achieving the separation of the mixed system, optimizing the distillation conditions and improving the separation device. The measurement and research of the vapor-liquid equilibrium data of the mixed system is also an important part of the chemical engineering thermodynamics.Checked the used experimental equipment and composition analysis equipment, verified the reliability of the experimental process, analysis method and experimental data through the measurement of the vapor-liquid equilibrium data of the methanol-isobutanol binary system.Wilson,NRTL and UNIQUAC activity coefficient models were used to correlate the vapor-liquid equilibrium literature data of 1,4-butanediol-water and propargyl alcoholwater binary systems, the 1,4-butanediol-propargyl alcohol binary system was estimated by the UNIFAC group contribution method to obtain the binary parameters of each model. And comparing with the model parameters of these system in the Aspen8.4 VLE-IG property database, the minimum relative deviation indicated that the UNIQUAC model was more suitable for the calculation of the activity coefficient of the system.Under the local atmospheric pressure environment, this paper used a small double-circulation glass vapor-liquid equilibrium kettle experimental device to establish the vapor-liquid equilibrium state of the 1,4-butanediol-propargyl alcohol-water ternary system.Used the Tianmei GC-7900 gas chromatograph and the area rectification normalization analysis method to do composition qualitative analysis for the vapor-liquid samples, and obtain the vapor-liquid equilibrium experiment data of 1,4-butanediol-propargyl alcohol-water ternary system.Used the modified UNIQUAC model parameters to predict the vaporliquid equilibrium data of 1,4-butanediol-propargyl alcohol-water ternary system, and compared it with the vapor-liquid equilibrium experimental data of the ternary system. The relative deviation results of the vapor phase composition and the equilibrium temperature were within a reasonable range(?5%),indicating that the experimental data was in good agreement with the predicted values, further verifying the reliability of the UNIQUAC model parameters, and establishing the vapor-liquid equilibrium model which was suitable for the ternary system. In this paper, the vapor-liquid equilibrium experimental data of 1,4-butanediolpropargyl alcohol-water ternary system meet the inspection requirements, then the experimental data and UNIQUAC model parameters could fill the blank in the vaporliquid equilibrium database for the system, and provide reliable basic experimental data for 1,4-butanediol production, separation and purification, simulation calculation process.
