Lanthanide complexes have broad potential applications in fluorescence,magnetism,catalysis,adsorption and the others due to their unique physical properties,high coordination number and flexible coordination mode.How to prepare new lanthanide complexes new materials with new structure and excellent capability has become a research focus in this territory.In this research,benzoic acid(ph-acid),2,2'-bipyridin-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid(bpd-3)and 2,2'-bipyridin-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid(bpd-4)were selected as the organic bridge ligands,and 16 novel aromatic carboxylate lanthanide complexes were synthesized by hydrothermal methods.Their structures were characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction,X-ray powder diffraction,IR and UV,and the fluorescence properties of some compounds were research.1?Lanthanide complexes of benzoic acid:A series of lanthanide complexes of benzoic acid[Ln2(phen)4(ph-acid)4]·2(Cl O4)·H2O[Ln=Eu(1),Sm(2),Gd(4)]and[Ln2(phen)2(ph-acid)6]·H2O[Ln=Nd(3),La(5)]were synthesized by hydrothermal method.Complexes 1,2 and 4 are isostructural,and their stuctures are built up from two[Ln(phen)2]3+groups linked by ph-acid bridging ligands to form a binuclear complex cation[Ln2(phen)4(ph-acid)4]2+,The positive charge of[Ln2(phen)4(ph-acid)4]2+is balanced by the perchlorate Cl O4-ion.Complexes 3 and 5 are isostructural,and exhibit the binuclear neutral molecule[Ln2(phen)2(ph-acid)6],Cl O4-does not enter the molecular structure.Although these complexes are prepared by the similar synthesis methods,they show two different types of structures,which may be influenced by lanthanide contraction on the structure of lanthanide complexes of benzoic acid.The complexes 1-2 showed good fluorescence properties.2?Lanthanide complexes of 2,2'-bipyridin-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid(bpd-3):A series of lanthanide complexes of 2,2'-bipyridin-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid[Ln2(phen)2(bpd-3)3(H2O)2]n·6n H2O[Ln=Eu(6),Tb(7),Gd(8),Dy(9),Tm(10),Sm(11)]were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions.Compounds 6-11 are isostructural,and contain[Ln(phen)(H2O)]3+and bpd-3 bridge ligands,which are interconnected to form 1-D chain structure[Ln2(phen)2(bpd-3)3(H2O)2]n.Compounds 6,7 and 9 show good fluorescence properties.3?Lanthanide complexes of 2,2'-bipyridin-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid(bpd-4):A series of lanthanide complexes of 2,2'-bipyridin-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid[Ln2(phen)2(bpd-4)3(H2O)2]n[Ln=Tb(12),Tm(13),Dy(14),Ho(15),Er(16)]were synthesized by hydrothermal method.Compounds 12-16 are isostructural,and are composed of[Ln(phen)(H2O)]3+and bpd-4 bridge ligands,which are interconnected to generate a 2-D layered structure[Ln2(phen)2(bpd-4)3(H2O)2]n.Compound 12 shows good fluorescence properties.
