Difficult-to-machine materials are used more and more widely in various fields,but due to the special properties of materials,they face major problems in the manufacturing process.Ultrasonic vibration-assisted EDM technology has a good processing effect on difficult-to-machine materials,which has attracted wide attention of researchers and has been rapidly developed in recent years.In this paper,the surface machining mechanism of tangential ultrasonic vibration assisted EDM was studied in the following aspects:(1)In this paper,the removal volume of single pulse EDM was taken as the breakthrough point to determine the shape of the pit ball,and the depth and radius of the pit were deduced by using the formula of constant heat flow semi-infinite unsteady conduction,and the removal volume formula of single pulse EDM covering the parameters of current,voltage and discharge time was established.(2)Ultrasonic vibration analysis of single pulse time path,on the basis of EDM remove pit volume model,and according to the different paths,to establish a tangential pits of ultrasonic vibration assisted electrical discharge machining to remove the mathematical model of volume,at the same time under different ultrasonic amplitude is calculated by using the model of the indentation depth,calculation,found that the ultrasonic amplitude,the greater the indentation depth is smaller,the better surface quality.(3)EDM is a nonlinear transient heat conduction process.In this paper,ANSYS Workbench transient heat module was used to simulate the single pulse EDM process to obtain the maximum temperature field and pit depth,and then ultrasonic vibration was introduced to obtain the temperature field and pit depth of ultrasonic assisted EDM with different amplitudes.The effect of ultrasonic vibration on EDM is explained from the perspective of temperature field.(4)For tangential ultrasonic vibration assisted electrical discharge machining experiment research,and the machining surface roughness measurement,through analyzing the processing surface topography measurement,and comparing with the theoretical calculation results,found that the tangential ultrasonic vibration aided electrical discharge machining of workpiece surface quality relatively ordinary EDM have improved.
