Chinese culture is extensive and profound,with a long history.As an important carrier of civilization spread,paper records the changes of the times,historical development and social progress.However,with the passage of time,paper cultural relics are being affected by many factors,and are appearing aging,mildew,yellow,brittle,or even completely damaged.Therefore,it is of great significance to carry out the protection of paper cultural relics.Cellulose,as the main structural component of paper,has a natural advantage in the field of paper heritage protection.Acrylic resin has the advantages of environmental protection,good filming property,excellent weathering resistance,high strength,and strong adhesion.If cellulose and acrylate can be combined by their graft copolymerization,it will have the advantages of both cellulose and acrylate.So,in this article,anionic carboxymethyl cellulose-acrylate emulsion and nonionic hydroxyethyl cellulose-acrylate emulsion were synthesized respectively by carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC)and hydroxyethyl cellulose(HEC)as substrate,using acrylic monomers on the grafting modification,and the paper properties were measured.The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:CMC-acrylate-OVPOSS graft copolymer emulsion was synthesized with CMC as the substrate,potassium persulfate(KPS)as initiator,sodium bicarbonate as p H buffer,water as medium,methyl methacrylate(MMA),butyl acrylate(BA),glycidyl methacrylate(GMA),hydroxyl ethyl methacrylate(HEMA),octavinyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(OVPOSS)as graft copolymer.Through single factor experiments,the suitable conditions for the synthesis of CMC-acrylate-OVPOSS were found.The structures of the synthesized materials were characterized by FT-IR,XRD,TG and XPS.By testing the effects of different mass concentrations of emulsion on the tensile strength,folding times,tearing strength,brightness and gloss of paper,the suitable conditions of emulsion for paper reinforcement were found.The results showed that when 10% CMC-acrylate-OVPOSS emulsion was applied to the paper,not only its mechanical properties were greatly improved,but also its gloss and brightness were slightly changed,at the same time,the paper had a certain aging resistance and acid and alkali corrosion resistance,which conformed to the principle of "repair the old as old".HEC-acrylate graft copolymerization emulsion was synthesized by using HEC as substrate,KPS as initiator,sodium bicarbonate as p H buffer,water as medium,MMA,BA,GMA and lauryl methacrylate(LMA)as graft copolymers.Through single factor,the suitable conditions of HEC-acrylate copolymerization emulsion were found.The structure of the synthesized material was characterized by FT-IR,XRD and TG.By testing the effects of different mass concentrations of emulsion on the properties of paper,the suitable conditions of HEC-acrylate emulsion for paper reinforcement were found.The results showed that when 10% HEC-acrylate copolymerization emulsion was applied to the paper,the mechanical properties of the paper were greatly increased and the optical properties were changed slightly.At the same time,the paper had certain water resistance and aging resistance,which met the requirement of "repair the old as old and keep the original appearance".O-hydroxypropyl trimethyl quaternary ammonium salt chitosan(O-HACC)was inserted into HEC-acrylate emulsion to prepare a chitosan quaternary ammonium salt/HEC-acrylate protection liquid which was a set deacidification,reinforcement,anti-mildew and antibacterial in one multifunctional solution.The effects of O-HACC mass concentration on the properties of emulsion and paper were investigated,and the anti-mildew and antibacterial properties of the coated paper samples were studied.The results showed that when the mass concentration of O-HACC was 0.6%,the tensile strength,folding times and tearing degree of the paper coated with protective solution were improved to a certain extent,while the optical properties and appearance of the paper remained basically unchanged.Meanwhile,the paper also had certain antimildew and bacterial resistance.
