Fixed abrasive lapping and polishing technology is based on the free abrasive lapping and polishing technology.Resin-based Fixed Abrasive Pads(FAP)have become the most widely used type of them due to its advantages of simple process and high processing quality.At the same time,the properties of resins have a great impact on their processing performance.This article based on the resin matrix of the resin-based fixed lapping tools,considering that composition are the fundamental elements that determine the characteristics of the resin matrix,and temperature is an important external factor affecting the characteristics of the rensin matrix.Therefore,the properties of the resin matrix and its effect on the processing performance of FAP were studied from two aspects:temperature and composition.The research contents and results of this article are as follows:(1)The analysis of temperature field during the lapping process of hydrophilic FAP.A finite element model during processing was established to analysis the effects of process parameters such as lapping pressure,lapping speed,lapping fluid temperature and workpiece material on the FAP temperature field.The results show that when the temperature of the lapping liquid is 25?and 50?,the highest working temperatures of the lapping pad protrusions are 43.9? and 68.2?,which are higher than the temperature of the lapping liquid and the environment,but lower than the solidification temperature of FAP.(2)The characterization of the resin matrix of hydrophilic FAP.The properties of the resin matrix(pendulum hardness,swelling rate,slurry wearand elastic modulus)at different compositions and temperatures were characterized and analyzed.The experimental results show that the resin matrix containing two kinds of prepolymers is more rigid than the resin matrix containing only one kind of prepolymers.The pendulum hardness increases with the increasing of reactive diluent content,the swelling rate and slurrying wear decrease with the increasing of reactive diluent content.The higher the aramid fiber content,the greater the pendulum hardness of the resin matrix,the higher the swelling rate,and the easier it is to wear.As the temperature increases,the storage modulus of the resin matrix always decreases,while the swelling rate and slurry wear increase.(3)The influence of resin matrix properties on the processing performance of hydrophilic FAP was studied.The lapping processing experiments of quartz glass were carried out,and the influence of resin matrix properties such as the temperature of the lapping fluid,swelling rate and slurry wear characteristics,and elastic modulus on the processing performance of the FAP were analyzed.Relative to the lapping liquid temperature at 25?,the Material Removal Rate(MRR)processed at 50?has increased,about 8.2 ?m/min.At the same time,the depth of the scratches became shallower,the surface quality of the workpiece was improved,and the surface roughness decreased by about 30% to69.9 nm.The higher the slurry wear of the resin matrix,the higher the average MRR throughout the cycle,the higher the swelling rate of the resin matrix,the better the surface quality of the processed material.
