With the development of human society, plastic is becoming more and more widely used. However, while they are in the process of earth's ecosystem circulation, they can split into smaller particles due to environmental factors such as wave breaking and UV exposure. When plastic particles are less than or equal to 5 mm,they are called microplastics. As a new type of pollutant in water environment, microplastics are attracting more and more attention. However, the researches on ecological and toxicological effects of microplastic pollution are very limited. With the development of economy, people's use and demand for cosmetics and other cleaning products are increasing day by day.The microplastic particles in cosmetics are small in size, enabling their suspension or floation in water and easy penetration into sewage treatment systems and excretion into the water. The microplastic particles are also more likely to absorb other pollutants, and the particles can easily being eaten by fish, especially small ones. Then gradually accumulate on the top of the food chain, eventually harm people's health. This paper studies parts of the toxicological effect of microplastics on zebrafish.Zebrafish,as a model organism, has 87% genetic similarity with human beings. The experimental results are of great reference value to human beings. This study was based on a popular scrub facial cleanser and extracts microplastic particles from it,and confirmed that the scrub particles were made by polyethylene material. Finally,by comparing the microplastic particles between the scrub particles from facial cleanser and the selected materials,100 and 500 mesh standard polyethylene microplastic particles were selected for the experiment.During the experiment, polyethylene microplastic particles were treated with different methods and fed to red zebrafish in different ways, red zebrafish were exposed to contamination of microplastic particles. The survival rate of red zebrafish in water contaminated with polyethylene microplastic particles at different concentrations was determined by measuring the 50% lethal concentration. The gill, intestine and liver tissues of zebrafish were studied,by measuring the oxygen radical absorbance capacity(ORAC)curve, recording the neutral red retention time, comparing the dry weight, feeding time and FT-IR compatibility to study the toxicological effects made by polyethylene microplastic particles on red zebrafish. The experiment found that,100 and 500 mesh polyethylene microplastic particles and 100 mesh polyethylene microplastic particles adsorbed with facial cleanser can cause oxidative stress damage to red zebrafish. When polyethylene microplastic particles are fed with fodder,it can cause more damage to red zebrafish. When pollutants were removed from the water, after three days of self-purification,red zebrafish's antioxidant capacity can recover well, but the damage to the gill needs longer time to recover. The total dry weight of gill, intestine and liver tissues from red zebrafish that ate polyethylene microplastic particles were slightly heavier than those in the control group. Both dissection and Fourier infrared tests showed that there were residual polyethylene microplastic particles in the gill or intestine of red zebrafish. In conclusion, this study will provide new data support for revealing the rules of microplastic particles in cosmetics and their toxic effect on organisms,it is helpful for people to understand the impact of microplastic particles in daily chemical products on the environment and its living things,it provides the basis for strengthening the construction and management of relevant laws.
