Research On The Application Of Rongchang Grass Cloth In Modern Fashion Design

Rongchang is known as the "Hometown of Xia Bu" and is currently one of the main producing areas that still produce Xia Bu.The evolution history of summer cloth can be traced back to hemp spinning cloth.During the formation of hemp textiles,because ramie has outstanding textile performance among hemp crops,hemp spinning cloth gradually formed a cloth dominated by ramie,which is the embryonic form of summer cloth.Xiabu flourished during the Tang Dynasty and the middle and late Qing Dynasty.With the improvement of modern science and technology,the past great achievements no longer exist,and fewer and fewer people can adhere to the traditional hand-knitting of Rongchang.Xiabu’s industry is dying,the off-peak season is obvious,and it mainly relies on foreign orders.The low production efficiency of Xiabu production area,the cumbersome and complicated procedures,and the extremely low wages of workers are the current conditions that test Xiabu’s survival and development.Only by transforming Xia Bu into higher-value products,increasing its added value,giving cultural connotations with regional characteristics,responding to demand in the rapidly changing market,and constantly making changes,in order to better inherit the Xia Bu craftsmanship At the same time,promote the development of local economy and culture.This article starts from exploring the historical origin of Xiabu,and sorts out the source of Xiabu’s name and the literature.According to the unearthed cultural relics and ancient documents,the unearthed linen fabric and linen crop poems are analyzed in a table,and the characteristics of Rongchang summer cloth are summarized.Through field research,we summarized its weaving skills,and analyzed the specific application cases of domestic and foreign designs by means of diagrams.Finally,explore the application in modern clothing,through the carding of Rongchang summer cloth,the shape design method of hand-woven summer cloth and the method of fabric redesign have been further sorted out.The innovative design of Rongchang Xiabu clothing should be based on traditional experience,adding contemporary people’s ideology,culture,way of thinking,and expression of wishes.It mainly uses styling design methods to revitalize it,adding bionic elements,fully considering the combination of comfort and fashion,and expanding Its development space in apparel applications.So as to explore more possibilities of using summer cloth as the main clothing fabric,provide people with a healthier and greener lifestyle,and provide new ideas for clothing design on the road to revitalize traditional handicrafts.
