With the development of human society and industry, the requirements for the machines used in industry are increasing, and the environment for using machine oil is becoming more and more demanding.Ordinary mineral oils and natural oils have been unable to meet the lubrication requirements of modern industry,so synthetic lubricants have developed rapidly.Among them, polyphenylene ether lubricants are widely used because of their excellent performance, but their pour points are relatively high and their prices are relatively expensive,so their applications are limited. The base oil synthesized by connecting diphenyl ether to an alkyl chain can improve its physical properties, but also reduce its price. However, the current research has problems such as the complex synthesis process and the unclear relationship between carbon number and its properties.Finding a simple synthesis method, exploring the relationship between the carbon number of the alkyl chain and its properties, and rationally balancing the pour point and flash point of the base oil remain challenging and important. Therefore, under the conditions of the laboratory, related researches were conducted on the reaction of linear / branched alcohol compounds with different carbon numbers and optimal carbon numbers to diphenyl ether to synthesize base oils. And find out the influence rules of the properties of lubricating base oils, and provide ideas for the preparation of high performance, low price synthetic lubricating base oils.So this paper studies the synthesis of alkyl-substituted diphenyl ether lubricants with different carbon numbers under different conditions, and screens out the raw materials and synthetic methods of lubricant base oils with better performance. The details are as follows: Firstly, twelve dodecyl diphenyl ether lubricating base oils were synthesized under different conditions by using Friedel-Crafts reaction. The results showed that when the molar percentage of diphenyl ether and 1-dodecanol was 1.0: 2.0 and the reaction time was 8 h,the yield of the product was the highest, reaching 85%,and the pour point was the lowest at 1 ° C.Under this condition, diphenyl ether was reacted with 1-octanol,1-nonanol,1-decanol,1-dodecanol and 1-tetradecanol as reactants. The results show that the longer the carbon chain is,the higher the pour point and flash point of the product are,and the various properties of the product are combined. Finally, the reaction of diphenyl ether and n-decanol at 60 ? for 8 h was discussed at different molar percentages. The results show that the best performance of the lubricating base oil is obtained when the molar percentage is 1.0: 2.0.The experiment further explored the change from n-alcohol compounds to branched-chain alcohol compounds of the same molecular weight with diphenyl ether. As a result,it was found that when a branched alcohol compound is reacted with diphenyl ether, the product yield is low,the pour point is high, and the flash point is low.The reason is that branched reactants reduce intermolecular interactions, resulting in lower flash points and pour points,so it is not suitable as a raw material for lubricating base oils.In summary, diphenyl ether and 1-decanol are reacted at a molar percentage of 1.0: 2.0 and a reaction temperature of 60 ° C.for 8 hours. In summary, this paper studies the synthesis and performance of lube crude oil base oils from two aspects of different carbon numbers and the same carbon number and different structures. Some relationships between structure and performance are observed to provide guidance for the design and synthesis of this base oil.
