The flue gas scrubber is used for gas-liquid separation of flue gas after desulfurization in the Wet Gas Scrubbing process. The separation mechanism of this device is similar to the cyclone separator. In this paper, the pressure signal, velocity field, separation efficiency and pressure drop in the device were measured experimentally. The swirling characteristics in the flue gas scrubber were analyzed, and the main factors affecting the separation performance were investigated. On this basis, the height of the separation space was changed by adding partitions or adding effusion in the separation space to investigate the influence of the separation space height on the swirl characteristics. The change of the separation space height will affect the swirling characteristics of the flue gas scrubber, but the two ways of changing the separation space height show different influence laws. This shows that the height of the liquid accumulation at the bottom of the scrubber has a certain effect on the swirling characteristics and separation efficiency.Apart from this, the addition of a baffle at the inlet section of the flue gas scrubber optimized the inlet structure designed to improve the separation performance of the device. And compared with the cyclone characteristics of the flue gas scrubber without a baffle,it is pointed out that the liquid film formed on the inner surface of the splitter is an important factor affecting the gas-liquid separation efficiency; After considering the effect of separation efficiency and pressure drop, the optimal inlet gas velocity under this structure is obtained.
