The application of a cathodic potential to form a potential difference is one of the common means of protecting pipelines. It is considered to be effective in inhibiting corrosion. However, according to research, the potential difference can stimulate the proliferation of microorganisms in the environment, especially sulfate-reducing bacteria.Pitting perforation of the pipeline. This paper explores the effects of potential differences on microbial corrosion by conducting studies under the conditions of cathode potential difference, welding joint potential difference and microstructure potential difference. In this paper, firstly, the SRB produced by the Fuling oil and gas field was separated, and the SRB test bottle was used to identify and obtain purified SRB bacteria. The growth curve of SRB was determined by MPN method. The static corrosion experiment method was used to observe the biofilm, corrosion products and pitting corrosion morphology using scanning electron microscope and laser confocal microscope. The experimental results of corrosion show that: the electrons can promote the vigorous growth of SRB cells, causing more serious microbial corrosion. The cathode area in the potential difference is the concentration of electrons,so the microbial corrosion in the cathode area is more serious than that in the anode area.,Microbial corrosion easily occurs in the cathode area and causes pitting corrosion.
