Submarine pipeline transportation is the most economical and effective transportation mode to transfer offshore oil and gas resources to land or platform. As a development facility of high quality in deep-water,located between the floating production system and the seabed, the Steel Catenary Riser(SCR)is widely used in deep-water oil and gas development. The dirt and detect the defects of pipelines can be removed by pigging and inspection process, which is an essential means to maintain the efficiency and security transportation of oil and gas pipelines. The study of the dynamic characteristics of deep-water riser under pigging conditions has important guiding significance to the pigging operation of deep-water pipeline. This paper combines numerical simulation and experimental research to establish a steel catenary riser pigging model.Study the overall static and dynamic characteristics of the riser, and focus on the TDZ(Touch down zone)of the riser.Considering the effect of ocean load and pigging load, the dynamic response and displacement change characteristics of different parts of the riser were further studied, the critical stress parts of the riser were determined, and the steel catenary riser pigging experiment was designed based on the finite element model Reduce the scale model and build the overall experimental platform.First verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the experimental scaling model, then collect stress-strain and displacement time-history data at key locations in the TDZ of the riser and compare it with the numerical simulation results.Studies have shown that the mechanical response and displacement response of the riser under dynamic conditions show a significant periodic trend. The pig load affects the local stress of the riser, but the impact on the riser displacement changes is global.
