Synthesis,Crystal Structures And Properties Of Coordination Polymers Containing Benzimidazole Ligands

The process of coordination polymers(CPs)formation refers to the self-assembly process of different O/N-ligands,metal ions and organic small molecules.However,there are still many challenges in designing and synthesizing the expected complex materials.Organic ligands play a vital role in the synthesis process.The choice of appropriate organic ligands is a simple way to synthesize CPs with interesting networks.In addition,by adding pyridine groups to benzimidazole ligands,the ligand sites of N-ligands can be increased,and then the coordination ability can be enhanced to form unusual topology.Ten new Co^?/Zn^?/Ag^? based CPs were obtained by hydrothermal/solvothermal methods through 1,2-bis(benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene(L1),1,3-bis(benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene(L2),1,4-bis(benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene(L3),1,4-bis(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene(L4),1,3-bis(1-(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)-benzimidazol-2-yl)propane(L5),1,3-bis(5,6-methylbenzimidazol-1-yl)propane(L6),1,4-bis(1-(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)-benzimidazol-2-yl)butane(L7),1,6-bis(1-(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)-benzimidazol-2-yl)hexane(L8)with different O-containing ligands.1 and 7 exhibit 3D pcu and tfi network,respectively.3 is a 1D“Z”chain and 4 is a ladder chain.5 shows a 3D four-fold interpenetrating sqc6 framework,9 is a 3D new topology with point symbol of{4.6³.8²}₂{4².6².8²}{6².8⁴}.2,6,8 and 10 present 2D hcb,sql,4,5L55,3,4,4L65 structure,respectively.4 undergoes hydrogen bonding,while 2,3,8 and 10 increase their stability through?···?stacking interactions.1,2 and 3 can be used as multifunctional fluorescence sensors for the highly selective and sensitive detection of acetylacetone(acac),benzaldehyde(BZH)and Cr2O7^2–(pH=3.0)in aqueous solutions,4?7 as chemosensors can recognize acac and Fe³⁺ions in water media.5 and 7 also can identify Cu²⁺and Al³⁺,respectively.8?10 can be used as photocatalysts to decompose methylene blue(MB)under UV irradiation,and8 can be also used as a fluorescent probe for BZH and Cr2O7^2–(pH=4.0).Figure 75;Table 12;Reference 60...
