| Along the globalization of economic development,the value chain of many fashion retailers,especially multinational ones,also present a high extent of globalization.Their daily business activities including development,sourcing,production,logistics and sales,are carried out all over the world.In recent years,customer demand-oriented supply chain has become one of the core competitiveness of enterprises,and supplier management has become a key element in business operation,because it is of great significance to reduce sourcing costs,ensure product quality,improve business efficiency and expand profitability.Meanwhile,synchronized with the rapid economic development,environmental and ecological deterioration and other issues affecting human well-being have become the common topics of concern in consumer and production markets.Due to increasing public awareness,increasing market pressure,more stringent government policies,and the increasing management needs of enterprise managers who seek to integrate sustainability into their own supply chain operations,the new concept of sustainable development has entered more and more industries and been incorporated into the enterprise strategies of many organizations.However,one of the main challenges is how to open access to traditional supply chains and achieve sustainable development goals,emphasizing the interrelationship between soeicty,environment and economic development,as originally defined in the 《Brundtland report》.As enterprises increasingly rely on the performance of their suppliers,it is of great significance to study sustainable supplier management and provide feasible solutions.Based on the author’s practical work experience in the fashion retailer industry and company,this paper conducts in-depth interviews with the senior management of L company and industry experts,and interviews with the personnel related to supplier management of L company.In view of sustainability as a new evaluation criterion,this paper analyzes the current problems existing in the sustainable supplier management of L company and the root causes.Furthermore,combined with L company’s own needs and industry characteristics,and based on the theoretical basis of supplier selection,classification,evaluation and incentive,this paper puts forward solutions for the entry,training,maintenance and exit of sustainable suppliers,as well as the transformation of overall management concept,information management and improving organizational structure. |
