Nickel-based superalloys are widely used in high-end manufacturing industries such as the aerospace industry because of their excellent properties.Among them GH4169nickel-based superalloy due to its high strength, toughness and excellent plasticity and low thermal conductivity and other characteristics,in the process of processing GH4169 there are problems of low production efficiency and high production costs. In order to optimise and even solve the appeal problem, new cooling methods such as high pressure cooling, minimal quantity lubrication/nano-minimal quantity lubrication cooling and cryogenic gas jet cooling have been proposed by experts and scholars from various countries. In this paper, the relationship between dry ice cryogenic cooling conditions and cutting forces, tool wear conditions and machined surface quality is analysed and explored by conducting GH4169 dry ice cryogenic cooling cutting tests to provide a reference for the application of dry ice cryogenic assisted cooling in the machining of GH4169 nickel-based superalloy. The specific research work carried out in this paper is as follows:(1)Finite element simulation of GH4169 dry ice cryogenic cooling cutting was carried out.The average surface heat transfer coefficient between the cryogenic jet of dry ice-CO2solid gas mixture and the GH4169 alloy plate was obtained by conducting a temperature field measurement test on the cold source of dry ice cryogenic cooling. The simulation results were analysed to investigate the effect of dry ice cryogenic cooling conditions on the cutting process, cutting forces and cutting temperatures, and to provide support for the next experiments.(2)GH4169 dry ice cryogenic cooling external cutting test was carried out.According to the technical conditions provided by the cutting test site and the needs of the cutting test, the dry ice cryogenic cooling application device was designed and built;on this basis,GH4169dry ice cryogenic cooling cutting force test and specific cutting energy test were carried out to analyse the relationship between dry ice cryogenic cooling conditions and cutting process parameters and cutting force and specific cutting energy,to provide some reference for the application of dry ice cryogenic cooling in the actual cutting process. This study will provide some reference for the application of dry ice cooling in practical cutting.(3)Research and analysis of tool wear under dry ice cryogenic cooling cutting of GH4169.By carrying out dry ice cryogenic cooling cutting tool wear test, introduce and analyse the tool wear mechanism under dry ice cryogenic cooling, analyse the causes of tool wear and damage;study and analyse the relationship between dry ice cryogenic cooling conditions and cutting process parameters and the amount of tool wear, carry out analysis on the preferential selection of cutting process parameters combined with the effect of tool wear under dry ice cryogenic cooling conditions,in order to provide reference for the increase of tool life and the use of cost. This will provide a reference for increasing tool life and saving costs.(4)Based on the previous comparative tool wear tests,a comparative analysis of the machined surface roughness and machined surface profile of workpiece was carried out to investigate and analyse the relationship between dry ice cryogenic cooling conditions and cutting process parameters and the above two,and to observe and analyse the effect of dry ice cryogenic cooling conditions on the machined surface profile. In order to provide a reference for the application of dry ice cryogenic cooling in the processing of workpieces requiring the assurance of machined surface quality.
