In previous work,our research group developed a new synthesis method of fullerenes,namely the graphite furnace electric heating method,in which the temperature and reaction atmosphere can be arbitrarily regulated.The preliminary exploration on the formation of fullerenes has been carried out using this method,but many doubtful points have not been solved.Therefore,this paper further explored the formation of fullerenes in the graphite furnace electric heating synthesis device by pyrolysis experiments,in which reactants are a series of carbon-containing compounds,and the preliminary separation and analysis of products with HPLC-MS/U V techniques.The primary work of this paper is as follows:1.The heating experiment of graphite tube and a series of pyrolysis experiments of hydrocarbons were carried out in the graphite furnace electric heating synthesis device.These hydrocarbons include benzene,naphthalene,cyclohexane,n-hexane,cyclopentane,n-pentane and cyclopentadiene.It was found that hydrogen was not necessary for the formation of fullerenes in the graphite furnace electric heating synthesis device,and the formation of fullerencs would be inhibited when there was more hydrogen in the reaction system.2.Carbon tetrachloride and chlorine gas were introduced into the hydrogen-rich hydrocarbons.These hydrocarbons include cyclohexane,n-hexane,cyclopentane,n-pentane and cyclopentadiene.It was determined that carbon tetrachloride only provided chlorine in the reaction process and the role of chlorine was to remove hydrogen from the system,thereby promoting the formation of fullerenes.3.Combining the experiment of embedded boron nitride tube and 13C-isotope labeling experiment,it was determined that the carbon source of forming fullerenes in the graphite furnace electric heating synthesis device was from the reactant itself,rather than the graphite tube,except for the evaporation of graphite tube.Moreover,the graphite tube acted as a support in the formation process of fullerenes.
