With the fast development of biomedicine and life sciences, demands for protein purification and immobilization have increased. Therefore, developing novel solid carriers which could be utilized for separation, purification and immobilization of protein has attracted more and more attention.Compared with traditional inorganic porous materials,Metal-organic framework(MOF)materials are prepared under mild conditions and hold great promise for their ease of processability, flexibility, structural diversity and geometrical control. However, porous MOFs are largely restricted to microporous regime, which limits their practical application. With the development of technology, many mesoporous MOF materials have been synthesized, which display a wide prospect in protein immobilization. In this article,Hierarchically mesostructured bio-MOF-1 metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)were successfully synthesized under solvothermal synthesis conditions by using the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB)as a supramolecular template. The mesostructured bio-MOF-1 were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms at 77 K.The results suggested that the mesostructured bio-MOF-1 possessed different novel morphologies, and the amount of nitric acid, amount of surfactant, type of anion in surfactant and some other factors could influence morphologies and mesoporous structures of the samples.Significantly, such hierarchically mesostructured bio-MOF-1 exhibited enhanced adsorption amount compared with the pristine bio-MOF-1 crystals, which was due to the existence of mesoporous structures in the samples. The adsorption kinetics was fitted to pseudo-second-order dynamic model, indicating that both physical and chemical adsorption played role in the adsorption process. The fitting results of isotherm adsorption models indicated that the adsorption process was not simple monolayer adsorption.
