Research On The Relationship Between Environmental Performance And Financial Performance Of Listed Chemical Industry Companies From The Perspective Of Government Regulation

With the rapid development of our country’s economy,domestic environmental problems have become increasingly prominent.Based on the current situation,the report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to implement the development concept of "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains".At the same time,the Party Central Committee and local governments have proposed a series of regulatory measures.Does government regulation in listed companies in the chemical industry have any impact on the relationship between environmental performance and financial performance?This paper studies the relationship between the environmental performance and financial performance of listed companies in the chemical industry and the influence of government regulation on financial performance,and uses government regulation as a moderating variable to measure its moderating effect.First,the author conducts research,analysis,and summary of the current domestic and overseas literature on environmental performance,financial performance,and government regulation;secondly,based on the existing theoretical basis,the author explains the relationship between the three and puts forward research hypotheses.An empirical analysis of 410 samples of listed chemical industry companies in my country’s heavy-polluting industries from 2010 to 2019 was carried out,and the following conclusions were drawn: the improvement of the environmental performance of listed chemical industry companies can promote the improvement of their financial performance;financial performance There is a positive correlation with government regulation;the stricter the government regulation,the more obvious the effect of environmental performance on financial performance.From the perspective of the government,the government should establish and improve the environmental performance evaluation system and system,strengthen the intensity of government regulation,and promote the concept of environmental protection;from the perspective of the enterprise,the enterprise should improve the internal control system,optimize the enterprise evaluation system,and improve the environmental protection of managers awareness.Through the above-mentioned multi-angle and all-round measures and systems,the government and companies have paid great attention to environmental issues,and at the same time,they have helped the government to rationally use its own rights,strictly implement government regulation policies,and promote the sustainable development of enterprises.
