In the current era, more and more diseases are threatening human health. As an important part of the human intestine, the gut microbes plays a major role in human health and disease.Natural products are widely used in medical care as medicines or dietary supplements due to their natural sources and low side effects.Studies have shown that the therapeutic effects of natural products are significantly related to the interaction between natural products and the gut microbes. Therefore, exploring the interaction between natural products and gut microbes is of great significance for finding specific therapeutic targets in different individuals to achieve personalized medicine for natural products. At present, there have been a large number of reports on the interaction between natural products and gut microbes, but the information is scattered and lacks systemicity.Based on this, this paper establishes a systematic dataset of the interaction relationship between natural products and gut microbes, and applies the dataset based on inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)to explain how to choose natural products for disease treatment. The results are as follows:(1)Through the collection of existing reference and databases,a dataset of interaction between natural products and gut microbes was constructed. The results show that natural products and gut microbes are closely related in the course of disease treatment.Specific performance:(1)Natural product may be targeted gut microbes associated with the disease, thereby changing the course of the disease;(2)The gut microbes can metabolize the active ingredients of natural products to solve the problems of low biological activity and low utilization rate. This result provides a theoretical basis for a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the interaction between natural products and gut microbes.(2)Through the analysis of metagenomic data of IBD patients and healthy people in China, the United States, and Spain,it is found that there are consistent changes in the composition, structure and function of intestinal microbes in IBD patients compared with healthy people.Escherichia coli and Subdoligranulum unclassified species as IBD-related pathogenic bacteria and beneficial bacteria, increase and decrease in patients, respectively.Combined with the interaction between natural products and intestinal flora, this phenomenon suggests that natural products that can reduce of Escherichia coli or supplement Subdoligranulum unclassified should be selected during the disease treatment. With the enrichment of Escherichia coli biofilm synthesis pathway in IBD patients,Escherichia coli is difficult to be killed. So other therapeutic targets,or treatments that target both pathogenic bacteria and biofilm synthesis can be considered.β-lactam,fosmidomycin,multidrug,polymyxin and macrolide-lincosamide-streptomycin resistance genes are enriched in IBD patients, which means that we should avoid antibiotics that are prone to drug resistance when choosing drugs. In terms of virulence factors genes, the flagella and bacterial adhesion factor are enriched in patients, which accelerates the development of antibiotic resistance. Therefore, the combination of anti-toxic drugs and other drugs can be considered in the treatment of diseases. All above results help to eliminate concerns about the regional differences in gut microbial changes in IBD patients, and provide new clues and ideas for clinical IBD treatment. In summary, this paper constructs a dataset of the interaction between natural products and gut microbes, and combines IBD to explain how the interaction relationship is applied. This research provides a theoretical basis for comprehensively and systematically understanding the interaction between natural products and intestinal microbes, and also provides a reference for how to select appropriate natural products for disease treatment based on the interaction between natural products and intestinal microbes.
