driving is becoming more and more common today.Distracted driving has caused many traffic accidents and posed a significant safety hazard to road traffic. However, most of the existing research on distracted driving is focused on ordinary small car drivers, while less research has been conducted on the harm to traffic safety caused by distracted driving by truck drivers.Therefore,in-depth research on the impact of distracted driving on vehicle behavior and traffic safety by truck drivers is of great significance to improve road traffic safety.Based on the investigation of the distracted driving behavior of truck drivers, this paper takes three typical distraction secondary tasks(Bluetooth talking, looking out of the window, and sending We Chat messages)as research objects.A simulated driving experiment was designed and conducted to collect data on vehicle operation under different distracted driving conditions afterward. Then,an improved IDM model considering the salient characteristics of distracted driving was established to describe the car-following behavior of the vehicle under distracted driving conditions. On this basis, this paper investigated the impact of distracted driving on driving performance from the micro-level.Moreover,the impact of distracted driving vehicles on the driving stability of the fleet was studied at the meso-level,and the relationship between the microscopic behavior of distracted driving and the operational efficiency and safety level characteristics of the macroscopic traffic flow was researched at the macro level. From the perspective of analyzing the distracted driving behavior of truck drivers, this paper quantifies the impact of three typical distraction secondary tasks and systematically explores the transmission mechanism of the impact of distracted driving, which has specific educational value and can provide a theoretical basis for the formulation of relevant road safety regulations. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Data collection for distracted driving.Combining the naturalistic driving study(NDS)and accident data statistics method, the typical distracted driving secondary tasks of truck drivers were determined according to the frequent occurrence and risk of distracted behavior.A multi-vehicle linkage simulation driving platform was built to carry out driving simulation experiments for three typical secondary tasks and collect vehicle motion state data under normal driving and distracted driving conditions in a steady flow and congested flow environment.(2)Research on the car-following model of distracted driving.Based on the influence of distracted driving behavior on the operating state,an improved IDM model considering distracted driving was established. The genetic algorithm was used to calibrate the car-following model parameters and distraction influence parameters using simulated driving experiment data. The verification results show that the improved IDM model can better describe the following behavior of a distracted driver than the original IDM model.(3)Research on the impact of distracted driving on driving performance and fleet stability. The Relief algorithm was used to extract ten vehicle performance characteristic indicators that are more influenced by distracted driving and analyzed their differences. The impact of the three distracted driving secondary tasks on longitudinal and lateral vehicle performance and following behavior under different traffic flow was analyzed.Based on micro-level research, the influence of truck distracted driving on the movement state of rear vehicles was analyzed, and the impact of driver distracted driving on fleet stability was analyzed at the meso-level through the improved IDM model for fleet stability analysis and numerical simulation.(4)Research on the impact of distracted driving on traffic flow. This paper established a lane change model considering distractions and vehicle differences and a random distraction model for drivers.A traffic simulation framework based on SUMO software was then built to study the impact of different truck proportion and distraction ratios on traffic flow efficiency indicators and safety level indicators. The results of the macro-level study show that the increase in the proportion of trucks in the traffic flow will increase the risk of congestion and reduce the speed of the traffic flow.Simultaneously, the more significant the proportion of distracted driving will lead to a decrease in the stability of the traffic flow and safety level. Therefore, traffic management departments need to strengthen distracted driving supervision to reduce the number of traffic accidents caused by distracted driving. There are 63 figures,35 tables and 99 references in this paper. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Distracted driving, Truck drivers, Simulated driving, IDM car-following model, Traffic simulation,
