In latest decades,With the acceleration of the industrialization process and the improvement of people’s living standards, people’s life quality is getting higher and higher, the garment industry has also been greatly promoted. At the moment, there are more than 100,000 types of business dyes and pigments, and the manufacturing of dyestuff exceeds 700,000 t.Most of the waste water produced by the use of these dyes and the waste dyes are discharged into the environment without thorough treatment. Those dye wastewater has become an important factor of the water pollution. The most commonly used dyes, such as methylene blue(MB)and methyl orange(MO),have complex aromatic structures, stability of optical, thermal, and physical chemistry, and highly carcinogenic and mutagenic. Therefore,it is urgent to treat these dye wastewater. To date,a variety of physical or chemical methods have been developed for the treatment of dye wastewater. In recent years,To treat these dyes,a new material of polymer microspheres has been hotly researched in the treatment of dye wastewater. In this paper,we mainly used solvent evaporation method to prepare multifunctional polymeric material of ethyl cellulose microspheres as a carrier to load non-precious metals for catalytic decolorization of MB and MO.The main work was carried out as follows.1.Raw material Ethyl cellulose was prepared into microspheres using solvent evaporation method.During the preparation of ECMs,the preparation conditions of rotational speed, aqueous phase concentration, polymer concentration, starting temperature, and other influencing factors were investigated. Finally, for increasing the functionality, porous ethyl cellulose microspheres were prepared by adding heptane as a pore-making agent in the oil phase.Studies have shown that the particle size of microspheres gradually decrease with the increasing of rotational speed and aqueous phase concentration, and the decreasing of polymer concentration. The starting temperature affect the sphericity of microspheres, with the higher temperature, the sphericity is lower.Heptane, used as a non-good solvent to prepare porous cellulose microspheres, increase the surface pore size of microspheres by increasing of heptane amount.2.Supported catalyst Co NPs/ECMs was prepared by impregnating cobalt on ECMs.The optimum rotation speed and the amount of pore-making agent which affect the performance of the carrier were selected. The catalytic decolorization of MB(10 mg/L)with the catalyst Co NPs/ECMs synthesized under the optimum conditions was studied. The results showed that the catalytic decolorization rate of MB was up to 98.7%.The catalytic efficiency is over 95% in six cycles. So the catalyst has good cycle performance.3.High catalytic activity Ni NPs/ECMs were prepared for the catalytic decolorization of MO,and the catalytic efficiency was up to 99.5%.The catalytic efficiency reached more than 95% within six cycles. It was further demonstrated that porous cellulose microspheres are an excellent catalyst carrier and can be successfully applied to dye wastewater treatment.
