| For a long time,China’s economic development mainly depends on the traditional model of "treatment after pollution".However,as China’s economy enters the stage of high-quality development, people’s voice for the development of green economy is getting higher and higher. In order to achieve good environmental performance, some local governments implement "one size fits all" environmental protection policies and strictly order heavily polluting enterprises to stop production. However, this will not only affect the normal production activities of enterprises, but also lead to the stagnation of local economy and major problems such as mass unemployment.Large heavy polluting enterprises are not only the main bearers of environmental responsibility, but also an important guarantee for the living standards of local residents. In order to realize the sustainable development of economy, under the realistic situation of limited environmental resources, the "greening" of heavily polluting enterprises is considered to be an important means to solve the contradiction between environmental resources and economy.Green transformation has become an important prerequisite for the next round of economic growth.Firstly, this paper combs the relevant literature of enterprise green transformation, and then defines the concepts of heavy polluting enterprises and green transformation.Combined with Porter hypothesis, prospect theory,resource-based view and other relevant management theories, starting from the specific reality of heavy polluting enterprises, this paper analyzes the factors and measurement dimensions affecting the green transformation of heavy polluting enterprises, and explores the path of enterprise green transformation from the theoretical level. In the empirical part, this paper selects60 heavily polluting enterprises listed in Shanghai and Shenzhen in 2019 as the research sample, integrates the thrust factors, pull factors and anchoring factors from an overall perspective by using the push-pull theory, and selects six key factors: environmental pressure, government subsidies, tax incentives, historical expectation gap, industry expectation gap and innovation ability,The multiple concurrent factors and complex causality driving the green transformation of heavy polluting enterprises are discussed by using the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis method(fs QCA).The results show that:(1)a single factor does not constitute a necessary condition to drive the green transformation of heavy polluting enterprises, but the government incentive policy plays a key role in driving the green transformation of heavy polluting enterprises;(2)There are five paths to promote the successful green transformation of heavy polluting enterprises, which can be summarized into three types: government policy promotion pull type, expectation gap anchor government policy pull type, innovation ability anchor government policy pull type.Specifically, when heavily polluting enterprises are in normal operation, the government can drive the heavily polluting enterprises to succeed in green transformation by imposing strict environmental policies supplemented by transformation related preferential policies; When heavily polluting enterprises face a gap in historical expectations, while the government formulates policies to benefit enterprises related to transformation, enterprises themselves also need to increase R & D investment and effectively improve their innovation ability in order to better realize transformation; When heavy polluting enterprises are in the state of falling industry expectations, the government only needs to formulate transformation related policies to drive heavy polluting enterprises to carry out green transformation. This paper introduces the push-pull theory into the research on the green transformation behavior of heavy polluting enterprises, expands the application of push-pull theory in management, and enriches the theoretical system of green transformation of heavy polluting enterprises to a certain extent through the coupling research on the green transformation factors of heavy polluting enterprises. In addition,by exploring the driving factors and mechanism of green transformation of heavy polluting enterprises, this paper provides a reference for the improvement of relevant government policies and the decision-making behavior of enterprises in green transformation. |
