Study On The Evolution Of Urban Spatial Layout In Modern Urumqi

Urumqi as the political,economic and cultural center of Xinjiang,has experienced the abrupt change from traditional to modern,that is,from agricultural civilization to industrial civilization.Based on the theories of historical geography and historical research,this paper makes a comprehensive analysis and research on the main elements and layout of urban space from macro and micro levels,and summarizes the characteristics and influencing factors of the evolution of urban space layout of Urumqi as a typical western frontier city in modern times.The research content has four parts:The first part is " general situation of Urumqi city development in historical period".This paper summarizes the historical and geographical basis of Urumqi’s urban development and the evolution of Urumqi’s urban space before and after the establishment of Xinjiang province in Qing dynasty and the Republic of China.The second part is " spatial layout of modern Urumqi urban road system".This paper mainly discusses the distribution of streets and lanes in modern Urumqi and the evolution of main traffic routes outside the city.The third part is " spatial layout of modern Urumqi urban functional area".This paper mainly studies the evolution of urban spatial elements " functional areas" layout,including the evolution of four functional areas,including administrative areas,industrial and commercial areas,residential areas,religious and cultural areas,and then analyzes the characteristics and influencing factors of modern Urumqi urban functional area spatial layout.The fourth part is " the evolution of urban population distribution in modern Urumqi".This paper expounds the changes of the urban population quantity and the urban population structure of Urumqi,and further analyzes the features of the spatial distribution of urban population and its influencing factors.
