Seal structure for in-core instrumentation is an important assembly of the nuclear power plant reactor structure. As the safety barriers for the primary coolant pressure boundary, they ensure sealing during various normal and accident conditions. The structural form, performance criteria of graphite sealing gaskets, such as compression, resilience, resilience, axial to radial load transfer coefficients, are important factors for the sealing ability and reliability.Based on the AP1000 in-core instrumentation sealing structure, research about the sealing assembly, the development of graphite gaskets, graphite gasket mechanical properties test and sealing performance test, then verify the sealing performance for the CAP1400 in-core instrumentation sealing structure. In this paper, three kinds of graphite gaskets with different densities are tested under the combination of two kinds of sealing cavities, such as compression, axial force transmission, axial to radial load transfer coefficients test and helium leak detection, etc. The gasket density and seal structure of the graphite gasket with excellent performance were selected and the sealing performance of the gasket was verified under the hot operation condition. The developed graphite gasket has reliable performance and can meet the engineering requirements. It can be used for the reactor structure of the in-core instrument in the third generation nuclear power plant in China. The test data obtained in the process provide supports for the design and application of sealing material in nuclear power plant.
