In recent years,the single pier bridge overturning accidents occur frequently,causing major property losses and safety accidents,especially in October 2019 in Wuxi City,the overturning accident of the overpass on the urban road,which has attracted great attention of the society.The single pier bridge is widely used in cities,mountainous areas,road intersections and other places because of its strong adaptability to the environment and small occupation space.The overturning accident shows that there are many hidden dangers in the design and operation management of the existing single pier bridge.Therefore,we hope to study the relationship between the design parameters of the single column pier bridge and the anti overturning performance of the bridge systematically,and to give the effective reinforcement method of the existing single column bridge.This paper mainly studies the following aspects:(1)This paper systematically combs the causes of overturning instability of single pier bridge,and summarizes the types of instability failure of this type of bridge;(2)Based on the investigation of traffic loads and vehicle types on overpasses in real cities,a load model of single pier overturning checking calculation under probability statistics is proposed.(3)In order to obtain the important parameters of the bridge overturning process accurately,a finite element numerical simulation method considering multiple nonlinearity is put into practice in this paper.The critical point and the course of the structure instability are analyzed by the load structure response curve.(4)The influences of prestressed load tension,curve radius of bridge,distance between two supports at the end and connection mode of single column pier beam on the anti overturning stability of this type of bridge are analyzed,which provides data support for the design and reinforcement of this type of bridge.(5)Taking the overturned bridge in Wuxi as an example,the overturning process of the bridge is repeated.According to the research results of this paper,the reinforcement measures for this type of bridge are proposed,and the effectiveness of the measures is verified by further calculation.
