The steam generator(SG)is one of the most crucial components of any power plant.Basically,it acts as heat ex-changer which extracts the heat of the coolant coming from reactor core to the feed water which is then converted to steam. The steam produced will then run the turbine. The role of SG is of key importance as it regulates the thermal distribution within the reactor. The failure of SG will lead to a situation of no heat removed and consequently a very serious accident of reactor meltdown would then be expected. Thus,it is of great significance to do thermo fluid solid coupling analysis of working medium in SG with a very careful analysis of modeling to ensure the safety and reliability of the plant. As one of the fourth-generation technologies of nuclear power, high temperature gas-cooled reactor has attracted much attention due to its outstanding inherent safety. The 10MW high temperature gas-cooled reactor-test module(HTR-10)is the first high temperature gas-cooled reactor(HTGR)designed in China. After the commissioning phase, several safety demonstration tests were conducted.Among these tests,a case caused by the withdrawal of one control rod out of the core by mistake was conducted. This test was carried out at 30%rated power,i.e.,3 MW power level, introduced into the core.In this study, the temperature, the pressure and the static structure of the HTR-10 SG which includes its stress, strain and deformation were simulated and analyzed by ANSYS CFD.The simulations are performed in the normal operating conditions and accident condition in the HTR-10 reactor. Thus, advance numerical simulation methods are applied to provide the reliable of the SG,and evaluate the heat transfer performance and safety characteristics of SG in normal operating conditions and the accident condition. The objective of the research is to perform thermo-fluid-solid coupling analysis for the steam generator of a high temperature gas cooled reactor which is China’s experimental reactor.ANSYS CFD is used for analysis and simulations,i.e.we employ finite element method to analysis the velocity, temperature, pressure of coolant and feed-water and the relationship among them. The results show that, the temperature of feed water increases continuously as it moves upward in the tube while the coolant(He gas)temperature decreases as it goes down through the shell. The pressure of a coolant decreases as it flows downwards in the shell. The equivalent stress, equivalent elastic strain and the total deformation produced in a tube are highly dependent on system temperature, tube material and the geometric configuration of the tube. Finally, the temperature and stress-strain state of the steam generator under normal and accident conditions were evaluated, and it was found that the system strain increased by 3 orders of magnitude and the temperature increased by 300℃ under accident conditions.
