Research On Intelligent Wheelchair Design Based On The Senior Technology Acceptance Model

The rapid development of information technology has made products more and more intelligent.Traditional products will gradually fade out of the market.Smart products have brought people new ways of using and operating experience,but there is a lack of smart products suitable for the elderly.At the same time,the aging trend of the population has further expanded the market for elderly products.As a common means of transportation for the elderly with inconvenient travel,wheelchairs are also developing towards intelligence.Therefore,how to make the design of smart wheelchairs more suitable for the elderly?Has become a very important issue.The Technology Acceptance Model(TAM)is derived from the theory of rational behavior.Its original purpose is to explain the decisive factors of people’s widespread acceptance of information technology.It is now widely used in researching users’ attitudes and behavior intentions towards new technologies.The Senior Technology Acceptance Model(STAM)is an extension of the technology acceptance model.It mainly studies related factors that affect the attitude of the elderly towards the acceptance and use of new technologies.Based on the Senior Technology Acceptance Model and its extended model,this paper analyzes the elderly’s physical and psychological characteristics,as well as the design features and design elements of smart wheelchairs,and summarizes the external factors that affect the elderly’s acceptance of smart wheelchairs into product functions and products.In terms of appearance,interactive interface,and human-machine size,the design principles of smart wheelchairs for the elderly are put forward.From these three aspects,the design methods of smart wheelchairs are considered,and finally the design practice is carried out according to the proposed principles and methods.
