With the rapid development of science and technology,enterprises have become increasingly demanding on production automation.In the mechanical production and processing industry,non-contact surface inspection technology based on machine vision has been widely used,but there are still some limitations,especially the balance between measurement accuracy and inspection speed.We design a general high accuracy real-time measurement system and the supporting software platform based on the ring-shaped workpiece,which considering both the speed and the accuracy of the circle center detection,the size measurement and the surface defect detection processes.The main achievements of the research are described briefly here.First,we built a set of optical imaging system to realize the inspection of ring-shaped workpieces.Then,some regularly used circle detection techniques have been systematically analyzed,and the rapid and accurate positioning of the circle center is automated through the iterative optimization of the least square method.After that,we put forward a method of size measurement and the inspection of flattening,corrosion,dislocation,missing,burr and other surface defect of the ring workpieces.Finally,we independently developed a software platform and programmed the related function.So far a rapid inspection system for toroidal workpieces was completed.The system can realize the high efficient measurement,which the detection speed of the ring-shaped workpieces can reach up to 500 pieces/min and the dimensional measurement accuracy can be 0.05mm.The false detection rate and the missed detection rate are both within 2%,and the accuracy rate has attained more than 98%.Besides,the system can work continuously for more than 12 hours at a stable operation.Now our system has been checked and accepted by the enterprises and used in the production workshop,which proves the system has great application value.
