For a long period of time, the marginalized groups, including the visually impaired, have been forgotten or even excluded by the mainstream, and they can only make weak and inaudible sounds at a very low decibel level in the whole public opinion atmosphere. But along with the social economy rapid development, our country pay more and more attention to the city spiritual civilization construction, focus on the social life at the edge of the group, also gradually realize that the lack of related research support in our country, urban planning standards and building design principle is mainly according to the results of the study of foreign or past, urban barrier-free environment construction exists many problems, can’t meet the demand of vulnerable groups of life. This study is carried out under this background. This study chooses the visually impaired people who are closely connected to the society as the research objects.Based on the above social development background, the characteristics of the visually impaired people, their travel habits and their satisfaction with supermarkets, the obstacles they encounter in shopping in supermarkets and the relevant elements of barrage-free supermarket design are discussed.Firstly,it reviews the achievements in the construction of accessibility at home and abroad, and expounds the physiological and psychological characteristics, needs and behavioral perception of the visually impaired.Secondly,it clarifies the principles that should be followed in the design of the accessible supermarket for the visually impaired people, and comprehensively analyzes the elements of the accessible supermarket, such as the division, the streamline, the establishment of the sense of space and position, and the man-machine scale.Thirdly, the semi-structured interview method is used to understand the basic situation of the visually impaired people, their travel habits and their evaluation of the current supermarket shopping experience,so as to provide basic data support for the follow-up research.;Finally, through the sequential action recording method, the needs of visually impaired people in the supermarket environment are deeply excavated and analyzed, and the obstacles existing in their shopping process are identified,so as to find the entry point of design.Through a series of studies and analysis of the visually impaired people, the final conclusion is that the visually impaired people prefer coherent and predictable layout and horizontal and vertical moving lines;Due to the inconvenience of travel and the development of online shopping, the frequency of visually impaired people to go to supermarkets is low. There are three major obstacles for visually impaired people to shop independently in the supermarket, namely, walking alone inside the supermarket, obtaining information about regional distribution of the supermarket and obtaining detailed information about commodities. Finally, based on the conclusions, the researchers worked out a design scheme for the visually impaired people to provide reference for the construction and development of an accessible environment in the future,so as to improve the living environment of the visually impaired people in China and encourage them to go out of the house and integrate into the society.
