| China’s construction industry and construction education have experienced a century of development and are in a critical transition stage.At present,the saturation of the industry and the slowdown of urban construction speed are not only an impact on the construction industry,but also directly affect the construction education itself.Reviewing the century-old development history of architecture in different regions and conducting comparative research will help to more accurately grasp the future of the industry and the response of education.This research takes the University of Virginia as the research object,and aims to study the history,characteristics and cutting-edge control of the architecture school of the University of Virginia,and its enlightenment to the architecture school of Hunan University.The second chapter of this article explores the driving force behind the school’s architectural development.Study the "Academic Village" designed by Thomas Jefferson and how his creative ideas support and promote the architectural education of the University of Virginia.Jefferson was not only an aspiring politician,he also linked architecture and its education with democratic politics when he founded the University of Virginia.It is hoped that through architectural education,the quality of the people will be improved,so that the country will stay in the name forever.The architectural teaching plan he proposed is the origin of architectural education in American universities,and his ideas have further contributed to the development of architectural education at the University of Virginia.It mainly affects architectural space and teaching,interdisciplinary teaching,immersive teaching,and universal values in running schools.Architectural education in the United States and the University of Virginia.The third chapter studies the social and economic context of the foundation of the University of Virginia.From 1865 to 1919,due to the social needs of the United States at that time,architecture education has been greatly developed,and a large-scale and organized batch of constructive talents began to be delivered.Beaux-art teaching has also been further developed in the United States,and eventually reached its peak.The development of architectural education in the United States during this period directly affected the philosophy and teaching plan of the University of Virginia in the early days of architecture.The fourth chapter studies the century-old development of modern architecture at the University of Virginia.The research divides its nearly 100-year history of running a school into four stages for investigation,the initial period of 1919-1938;the development period of 1938-1954;the growth period of 1954-1980;the modern and contemporary period of 1980-2019.It mainly analyzes how its education responds to social needs at various stages and periods,develops school characteristics,and how to integrate regional culture and develop a global perspective.The fifth chapter further summarizes the structure of the University of Virginia based on the STEM system,with design teaching as the core,and the integration of campus history and culture into the theory and design teaching.Through comparison with the School of Architecture of Hunan University,it studies the historical resources of Chinese architecture teaching.Enlightenment from the fields of integration,global vision construction,and integration of production,education and research. |
