Counties,as an important part of China’s administrative divisions, play a link between cities and villages. The development of counties is inseparable from the rational planning and management of county traffic. However, there are few domestic studies on the characteristics of county residents’ transportation needs. The transportation needs of residents in counties in China are very different from those in foreign and domestic cities. An analysis of the current characteristics of domestic residents ’commuting needs is an important support to guide the county ’s future planning and promote the socio-economic development of the county. The analysis of the county residents’ transportation demand, especially the commute transportation needs, requires a clear definition and research scope of the county.Based on the differences between county and large and medium-sized cities, the general characteristics of commuter transportation needs of county residents are summarized, and the relationship between the characteristics of commuter transportation needs of county residents and the natural conditions and social development of county towns is clarified.Based on the survey data of questionnaire data, electronic bayonet data, video recording data and taxi bus GPS trajectory data, this paper proposes an analysis method for commuting traffic needs of residents in counties.Based on the principles of scientificity, reliability, and operability, the informationization methods are fully utilized to improve and optimize the traditional OD allocation and inference theory. The road network structure based on the open source website and the traffic community division based on POI cluster analysis greatly simplify the basic work of traffic demand analysis.Aiming at the problem of limited amount of survey data,a supervised learning algorithm is established between the GPS track flow data of the road section, the bayonet flow data and the intersection video flow data, and the estimated vehicle flow of the road section is used to expand the observation section.Through the fusion of multi-source data, the data set used for OD inference is expanded, thereby improving the accuracy of OD inference. In order to verify the feasibility and reliability of the method, taking Changxing County,Zhejiang Province as an example, the commuter traffic characteristics of county residents were analyzed.Firstly, based on the data of the questionnaire survey, the general characteristics of the commuting traffic needs of residents in Changxing County are summarized.Secondly, through the use and analysis of the survey data, the traffic Original-Destination Matrix distribution and estimation results of Changxing County were obtained. The results show that the entire method is developed based on Trans CAD and can finally output the complete road traffic flow of county towns. The output can be used to analyze the current traffic pressure in Changxing County, which can provide policy support for future urban planning and traffic management in Changxing County. In order to summarize and compare the commuting traffic demand of urban residents in different types of counties in China, four typical counties(Changxing,Zhejiang,Qingcheng,Gansu,Jintang,Sichuan, and Wu’an,Hebei)were selected and analyzed in order to obtain the results of Original-Destination Matrix distribution and estimation in the counties. The comparison is carried out from two aspects: first, comparing the characteristics of residents’ commuting transportation needs, and clarifying the regional and transportation characteristics of different types of counties;second,in the aspect of the total trip volume and standard deviation of the OD matrix of the four counties, analyzing the different types of counties Characteristics of OD of residents commuting traffic. The results show that the commuter traffic intensity of urban residents in counties in China has universal laws in time and space, and because of the natural conditions,socio-economic conditions of counties, there are differences in total and distribution.
