Hull form optimization is crucial in the development of an energy-efficient ship,and selection of optimization parameters is the key issue in the optimization process.The traditional method relies on the experience of the designer,it leads to an ambiguous selection process and an uncertain optimization result.Thus it is still an open issue to select the optimization parameters systematically and reliably.To solve this problem,the present work studies how to properly select the optimization parameters for the hull form optimization according to their distribution position as well as the effect of the deformation degree of the hull surface on the wave-making resistance of the ship.More importantly,a method for selection of optimization parameters is also proposed in this thesis.To be more specific,this thesis includes:1.Based on the KCS standard ship model,the influence of the number and the distribution position of the optimization parameters on the hull form optimization is investigated.2.The present work also studies the effect of the deformation degree of the hull surface on the wave-making resistance.The results show that it is more effective to select the optimization parameters at positions where the hull surface has the largest deformation.Once determine the area to select the optimization parameters,the genetic algorithm is used to solve their optimal distribution.In addition,by analyzing the distribution of the optimization parameters on the hull surface,a selection method for container ship is proposed.3.The developed method is verified by selection of the optimization parameters and also optimization of the hull form of the KCS ship model and the 5100 TEU container ship model.It shows that the present method improves the efficiency of hull form optimization and thus accelerates the development process of the energy-saving ship.
