In the process of global economic integration,Chinese automobile enterprises begin to transform from local sales to overseas investment for exploring overseas markets.The internationalization degree of Chinese automobile enterprises has also reached a relatively high level.Meanwhile,as the main driving force of enterprise development,innovation ability is the guarantee of enterprise development.Whether the internationalization of Chinese automobile enterprises has a certain role in promoting their own innovation ability,and how to make good use of internationalization to promote the innovation ability of enterprises is worthy of our discussion.From this point of view,this paper chooses China’s automobile manufacturing industry as the research perspective to investigate the impact of the internationalization of China’s automobile manufacturing industry on the ability of independent innovation.First,the paper carding the current theories about internationalization and innovation ability,and analyzes the current status of China’s automobile manufacturing enterprises’ internationalization and the independent innovation ability.Then the paper list 40 Chinese automobile manufacturing enterprises from 2009 to2019 as the research objects.Through the multivariate regression model,the influence of internationalization degree on the innovation ability of enterprises is studied.Indicators such as the patent authorization and the ratio of R&D expenses to sales are selected to measure the independent innovation ability of enterprises.The indicators such as the number of overseas subsidiaries across countries,the number of overseas subsidiaries and the proportion of overseas sales to total sales are selected to measure the degree of internationalization of enterprises.Indicators such as total assets,years of establishment of enterprises and return on assets of enterprises are selected as control variables.Finally,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)the degree of internationalization has a significant positive effect on the innovation ability of enterprises.(2)The more overseas subsidiaries,the stronger the positive effect of their internationalization on their own innovation ability.(3)Enterprises operating overseas in more countries have stronger innovation ability.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between enterprise scale and innovation ability,which indicates that large-scale enterprises have sufficient funds and more R&D investment to improve their innovation ability.On the basis of the research above,we take Geely Group as an example to analyze the impact of Geely Auto’s international development on its innovation ability.Finally,it puts forward some suggestions on how to use the internationalization to promote the innovation ability of Chinese automobile enterprises.
