| The emergence of high-speed Rail(HSR)not only improves the accessibility of regional traffic, but also has a profound impact on the social and economic development and spatial structure evolution of cities along the line with its fast, safe, punctual, lowcarbon and high-quality services.Especially in China,large-scale and rapid high-speed railway construction has made it not only the backbone of the comprehensive transportation system and the main mode of medium and long distance travel, but also an important factor guiding urban development.Scholars at home and abroad have extensively discussed the impact of high-speed rail on urban development. However, these studies are mainly focused on specific cities and regions, and less on the whole country; It mainly focuses on the development of urban economy and population, and pays less attention to the expansion and utilization intensity of urban land. Therefore, based on large sample data, this thesis quantitatively analyzes whether high-speed railway leads to urban land expansion and land use intensity change, and obtains the following main research results:1.The impact of high-speed railway construction on urban land use can be analyzed from both macro and micro aspects. From a macro perspective,high-speed railway construction can significantly improve traffic accessibility and urban image, enhance the attractiveness of economic factors such as investment and population, and thus cause the expansion of urban land. From a micro perspective,high-speed railway construction directly changes the land use cover of the station area, and then, based on this, triggers the construction of surrounding areas, gradually connecting the high-speed railway station area with the urban center, resulting in urban land expansion.2.The construction of high-speed railway generally promotes the expansion of urban land in China.High-speed railway construction can promote the expansion of urban land in China on the whole. The expansion effect will last about six years from the opening year of the high-speed railway.By dividing Chinese cities into eastern, central and western regions for investigation,it is found that high-speed rail construction has an effect on the eastern and central regions while has no effect on the western regions, which may be caused by the low frequency of the western railway.3.The location and city scale of high-speed railway stations are the key factors that lead to the difference in the effect of high-speed railway on urban land expansion and intensity.According to the scale of cities with high-speed rail in China,it is found that high-speed rail construction has no effect on the urban expansion of small cities, but has an effect on large cities.China’s high-speed rail cities are divided according to the distance from high-speed rail stations to the city center, and it is found that the effect of high-speed rail stations that are more than an hour’s driving distance from the city center on urban land expansion is nearly four times of that of cities that are less than an hour’s driving distance.4.Excessive establishment of high-speed railway stations far away from urban centers in small and medium-sized cities may lead to the decrease of urban land use intensity. The effect of high-speed railway construction on urban land use intensity did not appear until 3 years after the completion of high-speed railway station, and it increased with the passage of time. This phenomenon may be due to the fact that after the completion of the high-speed railway station, small cities are not attractive enough in the game with big cities. On the contrary, more population and investment flow into big cities, which leads to the continuous decrease of land use intensity.According to the above research results, the thesis believes that the government should fully consider the impact of high-speed rail construction on urban land expansion and urban land use intensity when carrying out high-speed rail construction.According to the scale of the city, the scale and site selection of the high-speed railway station should be reasonably planned to prevent the excessive construction from leading to the rapid expansion of the city and the reduction of land use intensity.Beware of siphon effect caused by high-speed railway construction, which leads to unbalanced development among regions. |
