Research On Planning And Architectural Design Of Public Toilets In Urban Parks Of Xuzhou

With the rapid development of social economy and improvement of material living standards,the principal problem of the Chinese society has evolved into a contradiction between the people’s ever-growing needs for a better life and unbalanced and inadequate development.In this era,both the frequency of people’s daily outings and the number of city parks and visitors increased,which lead to the lack and insufficiency of related service facilities in parks,especially the problems of public toilets.In recent years,General Secretary Xi Jinping has given important instructions to the toilet revolution for many times,demanding urgent attention and efforts to make up for the shortcomings that affect the quality of life.Therefore,promoting the toilet revolution and studying the design,layout and technology of public toilets are of great significance to urban development and people’s lives.Based on historical data and related documents,the development process of domestic and foreign toilets and the evolution of folk customs are summarized,the concluded shortcomings of public toilets in urban parks is the important part,mainly focused on the issues of layout planning and architectural design of urban parks.In addition,this paper also analyzes the composition and needs of urban park visitors,the characteristics of public toilets,etc.,providing forward-looking directions for later investigations and design strategy research on urban park public toilets.Five public toilets in Xuzhou urban parks are selected to be research objects,they respectively are Yunlong Park,Pengzu Garden,Xiaonanhu Park,Huaita Park and Dalong Lake Wetland Park.The research proceeds from the current status of public toilets in urban parks,conducting a systematic study of the problems existing in the construction,use and management of public toilets in Xuzhou City Parks.In terms of layout planning and architectural design,the problems involved in the design of public toilets in urban parks are analyzed based on the needs of tourists and the corresponding solutions are proposed.The layout and design strategies of public toilets in urban parks are summarized through the research and analysis.The study indicates that the construction of public toilets in urban parks should comprehensively consider the park’s geographical environment and the need of tourists to design public toilets with basic comfort and humanistic care.This research provides some reference for similar design projects and also gives some theoretical supports for the development of urban parks public toilets in the future.
