China’s high-speed train has the characteristics of large span,long duration and high speed.With the continuous expansion of EMU operation area,the boundary conditions tend to be diversified such as line conditions and climate.High speed train needs stable and reliable excellent dynamic performance and absolute safety.The kind of operation condition brings great challenge to dynamic performance.The temperature difference between train and line in one year is as high as 80 ~ 90 ℃,many passenger dedicated lines in northern China belong to alpine climate conditions especially.Compared with conventional EMU,EMU running in Alpine Region Faces more prominent dynamic problems.At present,the research on ER8 C material of high cold EMU wheel mainly focuses on the performance.Research on the basic performance which determines its performance is relatively scarce.In this paper,the physical properties,residual stress and fatigue properties of wheels in low temperature service are studied,based on referring to the existing research methods of domestic and foreign scholars.It can provide relevant data reference for the research of improving the service performance of high cold EMU wheels.The main contents of this paper are as follows:The performance requirements of the high-cold environment for EMU wheels and the performance characteristics of common EMU materials are analyzed;the chemical composition analysis of the ER8 C material ensures that the studied wheel materials meet the requirements;on this basis,the tensile,impact,and fracture toughness of the wheels,The study of the section hardness test,and the comparison with the EN13260 standard,verify that the mechanical properties of the ER8 C modified high-cold motor car wheels meet the requirements of the relevant standards.Analyzed the important influence of residual stress on the performance of the high-cold motor car wheel;developed a test plan for the residual stress of the high-cold motor car wheel,and verified that the residual stress of the ER8 C wheel meets the limit value requirements of EN 13262 European standard through the analysis of the residual stress of the wheel.By analyzing the theoretical basis of fatigue damage,a wheel fatigue test program is proposed.Through the research of the wheel BDR dynamic fatigue test and the non-destructive test results after the fatigue test,it is verified that the fatigue strength of the ER8 C wheel meets the requirements of EN13262 European standard.
