In recent years,with the continuous changes of consumers’ demands for products,the trend of the production pattern has gradually transformed to customization with small batch instead of large quantities with low varieties.However,in the process of transformation,the traditional production pattern has exposed many drawbacks,such as waste of resources,low productivity and poor customization.In order to utilize advanced information and communication technology to promote the transformation and upgrading of the industry,thus realizing customization and agility of the manufacturing process,cyber-physical system(CPS)is increasingly applied in the manufacturing environment.This paper mainly concentrates on the production line which is a typical collaborative manufacturing system and then analyzes the challenges faced by processing resources in the development of customized products.After that,the framework of the intelligent production line is proposed,and the design method and implementation technology of resource components with plug & produce ability based on the model-driven concept under this framework are elaborated.The main research contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Starting from the purpose of endowing the plug & produce ability based on the modeldriven concept,the functional requirements of processing resources when adapting the intelligent production line for customized products are analyzed,and on this basis,the system architecture and data interaction scheme are proposed.This is followed by an elaboration of the development platforms and implementation technologies used in the engineering and operation phases of the intelligent production line.(2)Based on the reference to Industry 4.0 components,the concept of CPPS components is proposed,and the important role of resource components in the manufacturing of customized products is further analyzed.Subsequently,from the three perspectives of structure-functionbehavior,the construction method of the information model of resource components with different granularity is detailed and finally implemented through the Automation ML data format.(3)The modular design and implementation approach of the resource adapter based on the information model of the resource is elaborated in detail.Since the hardware system of the resource adapter covers a wide range of common industrial communication interfaces and implements self-awareness,automatic configuration and code generation in software,it is able to meet the needs of plug & produce capability without downtime during the operation phase of the production lines for customization.(4)By building an intelligent production line prototype platform and simulation platform for the three types of customized products,the functions and performance of each software module of the resource adapter are tested,and its capability of plug & produce on the production line is examined to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the scheme described in this paper.
