Electromagnetic metamaterials/Metasurfaces gradually become a new technical method that design high-performance antenna,Since the strange electromagnetic properties and the structure of metamaterial is combined with planar microstrip antennas.Based on the research background,three novel electromagnetic metasurfaces are designed on the basis theory of metamaterial,meanwhile,the electromagnetic characteristics of metasurface is researched by the method of scattering parameter extraction and dispersion mode;The application of the coupling reduced of array antenna and the gain enhanced are analyzed in particular,and the real effect of the metasurface antenna is verified by test.The specific work of this paper includes:(1)A new type of broadband Epsilon Negative Metasurface(ENG-MS)unit and broadband magnetic negative metasurface(MNG-MS)unit were designed,and the permittivity and permeability of the metasurface were analyzed and studied by scattering parameter extraction method;Through simulation analysis,the negative permittivity can be occured by ENG-MS structure at low frequency band(5.6-8GHz),the permeability response can be produced at high frequency band(8-9GHz);in addition,the effect of beam focusing,same as ENG-MS,can be achieved at 6.3GHz by MNG-MS,because strong negative permeability-nearzero refraction response can be generated at the magnetic plasma resonance point(6.3GHz).(2)A novel waveguide metasurface CSRR-WMS is designed based on the principle of mutual coupling of split resonant ring(SRR),the spatial wave and surface wave in this structure was analyzed by the method of scattering parameter extraction and dispersion mode;.In addition,A double element rectangular microstrip antenna that used to verify the effectiveness of the CSRR-WMS structure operating at 3GHz is designed.Simulation results show that the coupling of the two-element antenna decreases by-12.2d B after loading CSRR-WMS.(3)The broadband negative dielectric permittivity metasurface(NDP-MS)and the broadband negative magnetic permeability metasurface(NMP-MS)are obtained through extend the ENG-MS and MNG-MS,then,the metasurface is combined with the U-slot microstrip antenna for detailed analysis.The simulation results show that: the beam of antenna can be concentrated by NDP-MS and NMP-MS,but the gain bandwidth of ENG-MS is limited,The designed NMP-MS can not only concentrate the beam at negative permeability-near zero refractive frequency,but also suppress the lateral beam at negative permeability frequency band,which can achieve the effect of broadband gain enhanced.Finally,the effectiveness of the metasurface is verified by actual testing.
