Hemispherical resonator gyro(HRG)is a new type of vibration gyro which uses the precession effect of solid vibration standing wave to measure angular velocity or angle.It has many advantages such as simple structure,good reliability,strong anti-shock ability,short start time,high precision and long service life.It is a hot research hotspot of high precision,small volume and long-life gyro.The hemispherical resonator is the hardcore parts of the HRG.The vibration characteristics of the resonator will directly determine the performance of the gyro.The design and manufacturing technology of the resonator have great limitation on the performance of the resonator.Therefore,the research on the vibration characteristics of the resonator and the detection technology of the key parameters of the resonator is of great significance to improve the manufacturing accuracy of the resonator.In this paper,the influence of resonator’s non-uniform defects and structure design on its vibration characteristics has been studied.For the detection of the key performance parameters of the resonator,a non-contact driving and detection technology based on acoustic excitation has been studied,and the measurement with certain accuracy has been realized,which lays the foundation for the preliminary positioning of the trimming position.Specifically,this paper first introduces the research status and future development trend of HRG at home and abroad,and discusses the main common technical difficulties in the manufacturing process of HRG.According to the vibration theory of elastic shell,the simplified motion equation of the resonator is derived,and the radial vibration equation of the hemispherical lip is obtained.Secondly,based on the finite element analysis method,the influence of structural design on the vibration characteristics of the resonator has been studied,and the influence of different types of mass inhomogeneous defects is analyzed by simulation based on the resonator model of optimal design.The feasibility of acoustic excitation has been studied,and the platform of vibration detection system has been designed and built.Finally,the measurement of the azimuth angle of the inherent rigid axis of the resonator is studied based on the acoustic excitation detection system.Finally,the measurement error of the rigid axis position is about 4.4% under the experimental condition that the angular resolution is better than 1 °.
