For the continuous development of human society, belief is an important driving force to support human survival and progress.Buddhism, with its long history and cultural heritage in China and its soothing and purifying effect on modern people’s hearts, has attracted the attention of contemporary people.A large number of Buddhist temples in the continuation of cultural context, the development of tourism economy driven by the relocation of reconstruction,Buddhist culture and related experience activities flourish, which also brings new opportunities for the development of Buddhist temple architecture. In this paper, the largest ten square jungle in Asia-Emeishan Grand Buddha Temple is selected.Starting from the inheritance and different points of traditional Buddhist temple architectural culture, the space form of the Buddhist temple is studied in order to adapt to the modern needs of the architectural space design of the Buddhist temple, and the optimization suggestions are put forward for the current problems. The first part of the paper is to analyze the background and development of the Buddhist temple, and to provide the basis for the research of the development of the Buddhist temple. The second part makes a qualitative analysis of the overall layout, spatial sequence, functional space and key Buddha Hall Space of the Grand Buddha Temple by drawing drawings, field investigation, observation and interview, comparative analysis and other methods, and compares with typical cases to summarize its spatial morphological characteristics. The third part is the quantitative analysis of the space form of the Grand Buddha Temple, and the behavior mode of users is recognized from the quantitative perspective. The fourth part, combined with the analysis and conclusion of the first two chapters, summarizes the problems of the space form of the Grand Buddha Temple, such as poor connection between the front and back areas, poor accessibility of key buildings, unreasonable functional zoning, space waste, and chaotic style. The paper also puts forward specific adjustment and optimization strategies from three aspects of adjusting the spatial core, improving the functional layout and coordinating the architectural form, and verifies the effectiveness of the strategies. This paper adopts a comprehensive research method, which is based on qualitative research and combined with quantitative research, which can better make up for the limitations of single research method.Combined with the verification and supplement of the effectiveness of the research results,it can provide reference for the research in theory and practice, and provide reference value for the future development of the space form of the Great Buddha Temple and the space design of the same type of Buddhist temple.
