Research On The Design Concept Of The View Of “Wen And Zhi” In Landscape Architecture

The “view of Wen and Zhi” is an important proposition of Chinese traditional culture in the process of progress and development.With traditional aesthetic ideas and basic design ideas,the “view of Wen and Zhi” has also been endowed with different meanings in the process of inheritance and evolution for thousands of years,thus exerting its effectiveness in various fields such as philosophy,aesthetics and literature.At each time node,there are a number of scholars who have carried out systematic analysis on the “view of Wen and Zhi” in their well-versed fields,but there are very few summaries and discussions on it from the perspective of landscape architecture.Nowadays,in the era of high-speed social development and integration of design thoughts,the continuous brainstorming by excellent designers has led to the endless emergence of new design methods,which urges us to pay more attention to the fact that the design concept of “view of Wen and Zhi” that has been running through the whole process of landscape development is still exerting its effectiveness.Under this background,this paper aims to explain the connotation of the basic design concept,that is,the “view of Wen and Zhi”,and the logical relationship between “Wen” and “Zhi” in design.Then by taking the “view of Wen and Zhi” as the main body,it looks for the inextricable connection between this concept and landscape design from the perspective of the field of landscape design.This paper consists of four parts.The first chapter is the introduction,which briefly introduces the research background and other major parts of the “view of Wen and Zhi” in landscape architecture.The second chapter is the theoretical basis of this paper,which analyzes the concept origin,evolution and development of the “view of Wen and Zhi”,and compares and sums up the experience based on the analysis of other general fields that have already discussed the concept of the “view of Wen and Zhi”,so as to lay a detailed foundation for the following analysis from the perspective of landscape architecture.In the third chapter,by choosing classical Chinese gardens that have been mature and quite accomplished through thousands of years of stable development,with time and dynasties as the axis,it summarizes the rules based on systematic search and comprehensive analysis of the characteristics and development changes of the “view of Wen and Zhi” in each period of classical Chinese gardens.It is concluded that under the influence of the basic design concept of “view of Wen and Zhi”,the functions and forms of excellent landscape design are reconciled according to a certain proportion,and the forms will become more abundant with the increase of functions;At the same time,the forms have been innovated and the functions have to be constantly improved correspondingly,which shows that the importance of the“view of Wen and Zhi” for Chinese classical landscape design is self-evident.In the fourth chapter,it further demonstrates the importance of the balance and moderation of functions and forms in the “view of Wen and Zhi” for design through careful analysis of the overall landscape design and the selection of several important elements.It exemplifies from details and sorts out the fact that in the landscape design,there will be various problems if the road flow of gardens,the architectural sketches of gardens,the plant configuration of gardens and other elements do not follow the basic design concept of combination of literature and quality.It is pointed out that following the basic concept of the “view of Wen and Zhi” is the basic subject that designers of today and the future must learn in landscape design and other fields by seeing the big from the small,and extending to the whole discipline from landscape design.In the future landscape design,we should always keep in mind the basic design concept of the view of Wen and Zhi,so as to achieve the balanced beauty of both perfect functions and appearances,the harmonious beauty of coexistence of functions and forms,and the moderate beauty of practicality and beauty,which is gentle and refined in manner,and brings out the best in each other.
