With global economic cyclical fluctuation and intense world trade friction,market competition is increasingly fierce among all industries,especially on manufacturing.Labor cost increasing due to diversified customer request put high pressure on internal cost control.Improving operation efficiency across production management,supply chain management,warehouse management and so on are extremely urgent.Raw material receiving management as part of manufacturing operation connects supply chain and warehouse,the efficiency improvement is important.The research of raw material receiving management has significant impacts on overall manufacturing operation improvementsAs a subsidiary of Flextronics Corporate,Flextronics Electronics Technology(Shenzhen)Company is a manufacture solution provider on high mix low volume business type to customers all over the world.This article is to identify the problems under current process of raw material receiving through on-site research,data collection and analyzing from material purchasing and commodity classification using operation management knowledge.The main problem found are disordered operation of material receiving,unreasonable material classification and unbalanced manpower allocation.Thus,use AHP and ABC classification to recategorize raw material and optimize receiving operation by considering material size,delivery frequency,SKID quantity to improve the efficiency.Analyze raw material working steps and use systematic layout planning to optimize the layout of receiving space.Meantime use Queuing Theory to create mathematics model and verifying to come out the optimum manpower configuration for receiving operation cost reduction.The optimized solution is developed by comparing and validating the effectiveness of this method and in combination of actual operation from Flextronics Shenzhen Company.It’s shape into detailed implementation procedure,standardized raw material classification in warehouse receiving,systematic layout planning and visualization of KPI measurement mechanism which greatly improved the efficiency of raw material warehouse operation.
