Mikania micrantha is a significant invasive plant in south China, which causes serious damage to the ecological environment.Studies have shown that volatile organic compounds in M.micrantha leaves and seed dispersal ability of invasive plants play an important role in the process of invasion.Based on the determination of volatile compound composition in M.micrantha leaves of different species in south China, this paper probed into the correlation of geographical environmental, climatic environmental factors and volatile compound composition in leaves of M.micrantha and analyzed changes in seed dispersal ability between different geographic populations of M.micrantha at the same time, and revealed spacial differences of volatile organic compounds in M.micrantha leaves in south China and rule of variation of dispersal ability. This research may illuminate the invasion mechanism of M.micrantha and provide theoretical reference for the establishment of control strategy. The main conclusions are as follows:1.By GC-MS analysis,42 kinds of volatile organic compounds were identified in M.micrantha leaves from 23 different geographical populations, among which 5 kinds of compound, including α-Cubenene,β-Caryophyllene,Germacrene D,α-Gurjunene andα-Zingiberene had relatively more content.Non-parametric ANOVA analysis, principal component analysis and discriminant analysis showed that the composition and content of volatile organic compounds in M.micrantha leaves in different geographical populations had significant differences.2.The correlation between volatile organic compounds in leaves of M.micrantha, the plume loading of M.micrantha seeds and climatic environmental factors was analyzed by linear mixed models. The results showed that precipitation could significantly affect the content of volatile organic compounds in the leaves of M.micrantha and the plume loadingof M.micrantha seeds.3.Through linear regression analysis between volatile organic compounds in M.micrantha leaves, plume loading of M.micrantha seed and geographical environmental factors, precipitation,it was shown that the content of volatile organic compounds in M.leaves increased with the increase of latitude and altitude, the plume loading of M.micrantha seeds decreased with the increase of latitude, longitude and altitude, which indicated that M.micrantha can spread to regions with higher latitude and altitude.
